Cruse Management Services have been appointed by TH Corporate Services to assist with the commercial resolution of outstanding final accounts following the liquidation of Royden Structures Limited (“Roydens”).

Prior to their liquidation, Roydens were engaged on a number of structural steelwork contracts nationwide with a number of main contractors.

Cruse Management have appointed the Booth King Partnership to design the structural steel frame and concrete foundations on a domestic project at The Hazels, Wilpshire. This is the re-establishment of a business relationship first established some 17 years ago with the construction of the new Eric Wright Group headquarters in Bamber Bridge, Near Preston.

Our thanks to Booth King directors, Mr Ian Entwisle and Mark Moppett for their assistance and we look forward to a successful project.

Cruse Management have been instructed by Electricity North West to provide pre-construction quantity surveying/cost planning services for the proposed refurbishment of their Carlisle Depot, working in conjunction with BR1 Studio architects from Leeds.

Electricity North West were formed in 2007 when it purchased the North West’s electricity distribution network from United Utilities. Then in 2010, they took on responsibility for operating and maintaining the electricity network, offering a full and comprehensive service to customers.

Most letters of intent start with the all too familiar words “….it is our intention to enter into a contract with you for….”. If this is all the letter says then, as far as a contractual obligation to pay you is concerned, it doesn’t amount to much. It is simply what it says on the time, i.e. an expression of an intention to do something in the future is simply not binding on a party.

A binding letter of intent should be clear and concise bout telling you what your client wants from you and what you may expect in return. Never assume anything. If the letter of intent does not confirm a right, that right simply does not exist.

An example being the right of a Sub-contractor to receive interim payments as the work proceeds but, without such a provision being incorporated in to the letter of intent, there is simply no entitlement to interim payments?

What documents and drawings are you working to?  What if you end up in dispute? What if the contract is cancelled? Where do you stand? All very real examples as to how things can quickly spin out of control so easily? Keep Reading →
